Soap Film Macro Extras

Congrats to Chelsea - again! She got today's challenge...Soapy water/bubbles.

You know when you got to blow a bubble, and there's that soapy film over the hole? That soapy film is what this is a shot of. If you've never actually looked at it under the right light, you would never know all this trippy color is shifting and morphing around. It's pretty fun to watch actually...You can see the stages that film takes before the bubble bursts.

It begins in a wavelike state, then you begin to see these sprouting "mushroom clouds" - It begins to divide into two halves - One half is really vibrant and colorful, and the other half is white/orange. It gets real sudsy and then it POPs! But why explain it all when you can see for yourself...

I used a cookie cutter to capture the soap film...I started trying to use the larger opening, but discovered a lot more interesting stuff was going on in the smaller one - And it stayed together longer before bursting!



For the challenge image, I just used Photoshop to mask out the area around the film and focus all the attention on the soapy/bubble part...
